Self Destruction

2 Kings 17:7

This disaster came upon the nation of Israel because the people worshiped other gods, sinning against the Lord their God, who had brought them safely out of their slavery in Egypt.

Observation:

The worship of other god’s is a powerful curse to bring upon yourself, it again shows the seriousness of having idols & god’s in place of the Lord our God. Worshiping other god’s can only bring destruction & disaster there can not be any blessings it only produces death.

Application:

Today we have many god’s to worship that takes all of our energy and time. My heavenly Father requires me to have him as my number one priority in everything I do. I need to be on my guard recognising the subtle distractions that could bring the worship of other god’s and idols into my world, television, computers, cars, friends, wealth, sport etc.

Prayer:

Father help me to recognise areas in my life that are not fully given to You. Show me the balances that need to be corrected so that You are the absolute number One in my life. Let me be a person of blessing and favour, let no disaster come my way as I worship the God who gave me His Son as a Saviour.
